I am supporting Bettyann Sheats in Auburn’s House District 68 race. She is a thoughtful, compassionate, and intelligent woman who has dedicated her life to service. She graduated from West Point and is an Army veteran. She continues to volunteer in her community, along with running her own small business.
Although her opponent is relatively nice, he voted against the best interests of his constituents on a number of occasions. He voted for tax cuts that disproportionately help the wealthy, while at the same time voting to freeze the cost of living adjustments in the public employee pensions. He voted to cut the low cost drug for the elderly and disabled program and Head Start. He voted to take away the right to register to vote on Election Day.
Bettyann Sheats helped lead the effort to restore Election Day voter registration. I’m grateful that she is stepping up to represent us.
