WATERVILLE — Edna Mae Tobin, 89, of Waterville and formerly of South Gardiner, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Inland Hospital.

She was born in North Whitefield, Feb. 6, 1923, a daughter of Arthur and Theresia Carlson McCurdy.

Edna was a graduate of Cony High School in Augusta, Class of 1941. She was employed as nurse’s aid for the Market Square Heath Care Facility in South Paris, retiring in 1995.

She is survived by three sons, James Hanson of West Port Island, Bruce Hanson of South Paris and Arthur Hanson of Hubert Heights, Ohio; her daughter, Elaine Gilbert of Hermon; her sister, Florence “Billy” Noyes of Hartford, Conn.; stepchildren, Ann Bishop, Mary-Jo Higgins, Terri Reynolds and Charles Tobin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Hanson in 1973; her second husband, Joseph Tobin in 2003; and her sisters, Inez Workman, Doris Wilmer, Helen Berube and Mildred Perez.
