FARMINGTON — Police charged a Mexico man after motorists reported someone was throwing rocks and bricks into traffic on Wilton Road near the Colonial Valley Motel on Tuesday evening.

Mark Ambrose, 36, was given a summons on a charge of criminal mischief after Farmington police say an 8- to 10-inch section of material from the side of the road was thrown onto the highway, along with rocks and bricks at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.

One car went off the road on impact, Sgt. Ed Hastings reported. Because of darkness, police arranged for the driver to bring the car to the police station Wednesday to record the damage.

Hastings found Ambrose, who fit the description given police, walking farther west near Franklin Memorial Hospital. Police received four complaints from motorists.

Ambrose told police he was walking the road when someone went by him in a vehicle and hollered at him. He picked up rocks and started throwing them.

No one was injured during the incident.
