“Oh well, I’m not going to die of good health.” This is what Irene Nault responded when family and friends would express their sadness hearing of her illness. She maintained a positive attitude and bubbly personality regardless of how poorly she felt.

LEWISTON — Irene D. Nault of 39 Irwin St., Lewiston, 77, died at home Wednesday, Sept. 12, with her family at her side after a lingering illness.

Determined to have more quality of life rather than quantity, Irene continued with her activities including exercising with the ‘Curvy Chicks,’ weekly Bingo nights, playing cards, meeting with the lunch bunch on a regular basis, and spending endless time with her family and friends.

She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 29, 1935, the daughter of Oscar and Cecile (Sevigny) Dionne. She grew up in Auburn, attended local schools, and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1953.

On June 9, 1956, Irene married her best friend and love of her life, Conrad Nault and together they created a life in Lewiston raising three children. Conrad died May 18, 2000.

While their three children were young, Irene and her husband remained involved with various coaching of youth sport activities. Irene retired from the Lewiston schools nutrition program in 2000 after 20 ½ years of service. Prior to the Nutrition Program, she assisted her husband with their gas and service station, Conrad’s Exxon in Lewiston.
