SOUTH PARIS — Irmgard Hutchins, 87, of Rumford, died Aug. 23, at Market Square Nursing Home.

Irmgard was born May 2, 1925, in Erlangen, Bavaria, Germany, the only child of Frederick and Johanna Gotz. On Feb. 7, 1948, she married Earl Hutchins and journeyed to the United States.

She became a U.S. citizen after three years and traveled extensively in the U.S. with her husband of 64 years. She worked in retail stores in Rumford, including Day’s Jewelry, many years with W.T. Grant, where she was assistant manager and several drug stores.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Hutchins; and a son, Erick N. Hutchins of Old Town.
