DIXFIELD — Town Manager Eugene Skibitsky informed his board of selectmen on Monday night that effective January 2013, he will resign his post.

Skibitsky noted, “This is something that’s been in the air for a while now. It’s the right time as far as a town manager’s job is concerned. I’ll be leaving before budget season gets started.”

When asked if he was moving on to bigger and better things and if he was staying in the area, Skibitsky stated, “I have no irons in the fire. This is a case where I’m letting faith and opportunity take the reigns.”

The town manager noted that he believed he may have overwhelmed the board a bit, but he was going to research Maine Municipal Association’s services to assist them as a board when he leaves.

“The board will have to decide whether they’re going to do things on their own of if they will look to MMA for assistance,” stated Skibitsky.

There were no issues of malice stated for his decision to leave, stating, “It’s just the right time.”
