LEWISTON — Eugene C. Strout, 57, of Durham, died Friday, Sept. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston on May 21, 1955, a son of the late Clifton and Dora Tufts Strout.
Eugene worked for himself, doing various jobs, painting, masonry and digging for clams. He would work both low tides to dig for clams so he could save up and go to Egypt, a trip he made seven times. He was very interested in the Egyptian Pyramids, and spent much of his time studying them. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He leaves his sister, Barbara Greene of Maryland; four brothers, Leon Verrill and his wife, Jean of Michigan, Leslie Verrill and wife, Rosemary of Bowdoinham, Leland Verrill of Litchfield and his daughter, Paula Mosher, of Litchfield and Michael Verrill and wife, Donna of Durham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
