AUBURN — St. Dominic Academy welcomed back its students and Bishop Richard Malone at its opening Mass on Thursday, Aug. 30, in the St. Dominic school gym.
In speaking to student, Bishop Malone said “Many of you will be called to a vocation in marriage; some may be called to the religious life and the priesthood,” urging students to listen to these calls.
Bishop Malone was recently assigned to serve in Buffalo, N.Y., while also serving as interim bishop of Portland, Maine until a new bishop can be appointed. Malone told the students he accepted the appointment without hesitation. “God has a plan for all of us. He has a calling for us to fulfill,” Malone said.
Principal Don Fournier thanked the bishop for his dedication to St. Dom’s and gave him a St. Dom’s sweater so he would be warm during the long Buffalo winters.
