JAY — Daughters of Isabella Circle 677, St. Rose of Lima, met Sept. 12, called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Regent Denise Rodzen. Chancellor Laurianne Castonguay led the group in the recitation of the Rosary.
Monitor Irene Castonguay led new member Vicki Cunningham out of the hall so the group could vote to accept her as a new member. A short form conferral was held for Cunningham.
A white candle was lit for the remembrance of deceased members of the circle. Recording secretary Jackie Castonguay called the roll. Filling in for absent officers were Rita Crowley, Financial Treasurer Annette Melanson; Denise Soucy, First Auditor Louise Chabot; Helen Hobbs, First Guide Louise Buzzell.
The meeting began with Castonguay advancing to the salutation table to recite the prayer. The opening ode was sung followed by the pledge to the flag. Recording Secretary Jackie Castonguay read minutes from the June business meeting.
Thank-you cards were read by the recording secretary. Cards were received from Diane Maurais, family of Lorraine Cote, Evelyn Chabot and Marie LaPoint for the Mass in honor of her late husband. A letter was received from Yvonne Demillo asking for a donation for the Christmas fair that will be held on Nov. 17.
Rodzen read a letter she received from International Regent Christiane Chagnon. Scribe Kim Couture reported that she had put a article in the paper about the June meeting and the summer outing at LaFlurer’s.
She showed the picture she was asked to have framed, and she gave donations for the raffle at the fall bazaar. She reported that she had not done anymore checking on the tables for the parish hall.Vice Regent Dot Morgan reported on sending get-well cards and sympathy cards.
Couture spoke about the bazaar theme baskets, which will be done at home and brought to the hall on Friday, Oct. 5. Couture said she will have tags made up for each basket.
Someone will be at the parish hall on Thursday, Oct. 4, to accept items for the white elephant tables, food for the food tables and the baskets. It was stated all members may help at fundraisers.
Rodzen spoke about the 40/40 Club and said more members are needed for that. Contact Louise Buzzell to join. Vice Regent Dot Morgan spoke about the Living Rosary, stating a date is needed when everyone is free. Upcoming dates to remember are Sept. 30, Project Rachael, and Oct. 6, fall bazaar.
