AUGUSTA — Emily Mae West Sprague, 89, of Oxford, died Saturday, Sept. 15, at MaineGeneral Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Southern Pines, N.C., Dec. 21, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Estelle Swearingen West. She graduated from Paris High School in South Paris and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts.
Emily worked as an RN at Togus and from the time it opened for 30 years at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. She never missed attending her class reunions and was a longtime member of the South Paris Baptist Church. She enjoyed old movies and Maisie the cat. She was married to Clifton Sprague in 1956, he died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Edward Sevon and his wife, Wilma, and their children, William, Seth and Desiree; a son, Walter Sevon and his wife, Jean, and their children, Melanie and Brian Burdett and Matthew and Katie Sevon; a daughter, Susan Chesley and her husband, Dennis, and their children, Christopher and Amy Chesley and Jessica and fiancée, Sean; a daughter, Sally Cram and her husband, Michael, and their children, Clint Cram, Jere Cram and his wife, Joy, and Eva Cram; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Autumn, Sean, Colin, Sean, Caleb and Arianna; two sisters, Joyce Shaw and Margaret ( Peggy) Hefty; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and three grandsons, Mark Sevon, Michael Cram and Dennis Chesley.
