BUCKFIELD — Town Manager Dana Lee responded Wednesday to a story on the Buckfield selectmen’s meeting published Wednesday on Page B1 of Oxford Hills and River Valley editions, and Page B2 of City edition. Selectmen were under the impression that a town truck had been driven more than 5,000 miles without a sticker.

Lee said he checked the facts after the meeting. He wrote in an e-mail Wednesday that, “The number of miles that Chairman (Robin) Buswell had calculated for the GMC 1-ton was for the whole year — sticker expiration 2011 to sticker expiration 2012, plus miles after expiration. Actual miles driven after inspection ran out is 962 miles. It’s still a serious problem, but not wildly inexplicable like it was made out to be (Tuesday) night.”
