LIVERMORE FALLS – The paint is wearing off and in many places the cupola on top of the Treat Memorial Library roof is down to bare wood.

“At this point it is still repairable,” Cindy Rehagan Langewisch, president of the Livermore Falls Librarian Association, said Monday.

The cupola was built in 1954 when the library was constructed, she said.

Members have raised $300 of the $1,000 needed for the repair project, she said. That money came from patrons.

The association is holding a variety of fundraisers at the Apple Pumpkin Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Livermore Falls Recreation Field.

A carpenter is lined up to do the work and plans to donate some services,  including glass for the windows in the cupola.

Pat’s Wallpaper of Livermore Falls is donating the paint, Rehagen Langewisch said.

The association will have a booth at the Apple Pumpkin Festival and will kick off a 50/50 raffle and a 12-item raffle.

The winners will be drawn at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the library on Main Street.

The group will also hold a bake sale and white elephant sale during the festival.

Donations may be left at the library or brought to the booth at the festival, she said. People who want a receipt are asked to leave their name, address and phone number so one can be sent.

White elephant items and baked goods could either be brought to the festival or contact library Director Elaine Smith at the library.

The library will also hold its annual book fair the same day as the festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Treat Memorial Library, Langewisch said.
