RUMFORD — Black Mountain 0f Maine in Rumford and Pineland Farms Nordic Center in New Gloucester are being marketed in a ski deal for Maine Winter Sports Center facilities.

For $150, the Ski Again Pass gives unlimited skiing at all MWSC facilities for the season, Andy Shepard, president and chief executive officer of the MWSC, said in a recent news release.

The season pass gives holders access to five downhill and Nordic areas across Maine with no blackout dates, he said.

“The Maine Winter Sports Center has been dedicated to making skiing accessible to everyone since our inception in 1999,” Shepard said. “I believe this Ski Again Pass and our $15 day ticket are another significant step in that direction.”

Included in the pass are Black Mountain, Pineland Farms Nordic Center, Bigrock Mountain in Mars Hill, the 10th Mountain Ski Center in Fort Kent, and the Nordic Heritage Ski Center in Presque Isle.

“The Ski Again Pass is intended to encourage Mainers to embrace our winter heritage and either get back to skiing or take it up for the first time, at one of our areas,” Shephard said.

He said the Maine Winter Sports Center has installed a new snowmaking system this fall at Black Mountain and bought new high-efficiency snow guns.

The Rumford ski hill also features 30 trails, beginner to expert, and a new family-friendly day lodge with a cafe, pub, two museums, two fireplaces and four paved parking lots.

Pineland Farms, he said, has been an epicenter of recreational cross-country skiing, training and racing for some of America’s top skiers since it opened in 2002.

It has a network of trails traversing more than 35 kilometers through rolling farmland and hardwood forests with many views of Mount Washington.

Shepard said the passes are on sale now and available online at skiblackmountain.com and bigrockmaine.com.

“We got into the alpine business to offer families and those just getting into the sport a place to ski, surrounded by people who treat them like family,” Shepard said.

“We have friendly staff, no lift lines, and have made significant investments in ensuring an on-mountain skiing experience that guarantees challenges for all abilities.”
