Have Mainers forgotten the past 50 years? The billions in debt, unpaid bills, no jobs and the highest taxes in the country? The polls suggest they have.
The Republican revolution that began in 2010, with more than 700 seats switching from Democrat to Republican, is just getting started.
The only states to have job growth in the past three years were ones run by Republicans. Maine was one them. Taxes are going down, the bills are getting paid, the debts honored. Programs and departments are being reformed, needed cuts being made. Wasteful spending reined in.
Republicans have earned the right to govern and they should be sent back to lead us through the economic disaster that Washington, D.C., officials have unleashed.
Remember when the state came into some extra revenue earlier in the year? What did the Democrats demand be done? Rebuild the rainy day fund? Pay overdue bills to Maine’s hospitals? Pay off debts?
No, they demanded the money be spent on failing programs instead of making the hard choices that must be made.
Maine’s debt of $9 billion did not happen overnight, nor can it be fixed overnight. Give the Republicans the time they need in Augusta.
On Nov. 6 people will vote for their children’s future. What will be chosen for them? Freedom and liberty or more free stuff for adults and economic slavery for them?
Maine must vote wisely. The children are watching.
