AUBURN — Gordon L. Harris, 74, of Auburn, died peacefully in Auburn on Sept. 14, following a long struggle with Huntington’s disease.

He was born in Charleston, S.C., but lived for many years in the Washington, D.C., area. He was a Quaker minister and had devoted his life to social justice and civil rights issues.

He was known locally for his volunteer work in schools, hospitals and the library, where he especially enjoyed taking his dog Sky to be read to by the children.
