POLAND — Alex Corcoran scored a pair of second-half goals to lead lift Poland to a 3-2 victory over Wells in boys’ soccer action Saturday.

Nate Morin converted a pass from Dan Bernier 3:38 into the game to put the Knights (1-5-1) on the board first and take a 1-0 lead into the half.

Spencer Sibley tied the score at 1-1 early in the second half and Sam LaPointe inched the Warriors (2-6) back to within one with 7:41 left in regulation. But, that was all the scoring either team would muster.

Goalie Alex McCormack-Kuman made three saves for Wells, while goalie Cody Kostco earned the win in net with two saves.

Valley 6, Rangeley 1

RANGELEY — Carrington Miller scored a hat trick as Valley coasted to a 6-1 victory over Rangeley in EWC boys’ soccer action Saturday.

Stone Ellis, Andrew Marden and Joshua West round out the scoring for the Cavaliers.

Ricky Thompson scored the lone goal for the Lakers in the second half.

Goalies Cody Lawyerson and Adnrew Tremblay shared keeper duties, making six saves apiece, for Valley. Gunnar Johnson prevented 13 shots in net for Rangeley.

G-NG, Waynflete tie

GRAY — Gray-New Gloucester and Waynflete battle to a double-overtime 1-1 tie in WMC boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Flyers (5-0-1) scored first with a tally from Jack Cutler about 10 minutes into the second half.

Seconds later, Austin Carson converted a relay from Will Bartlett to even up a hard-fought, physical game for the Patriots (3-2-2) and send the contest into overtime frames.Goalie Zander Majercik made nine saves for Waynflete, while goalie Nick Rogers made 10 saves for the Patriots.

Mt. Abram 6, Winthrop 0

SALEM — Sophomore forward Trevor Brackley scored the third and final goal of an uninterrupted six-goal string as Mt. Abram notched a 6-0 victory over Winthrop in MVC boys’ soccer action Saturday. The Roadrunners (5-4) led 2-0 at the half.

Goalie Matt Sekerak made nine stellar saves for the Ramblers (2-5-1) as the Winthrop was overpowered by the Mt. Abram offense. Goalies Tristen Dyer and Sak Sriwong combined for four saves for Mt. Abram.

St. Dom’s 7, Telstar 1

AUBURN — Will Desmarais led the charge for St. Dom’s with a pair of goals and Tyler Furtado added a goal and a pair of helpers as the Saints cruised to a 7-1 victory in boys’ MVC soccer action Saturday.

Ryan Lutrzykowski, Robbie Pallozzi, Austin Roy and Eric Link each added goals for the Saints (9-0), and Ben Sawyer stopped two shots in the win.

Nick Conrad had the lone goal for the Rebels (1-7-1), and Dylan Helms stopped 14 St. Dom’s shots.

Football

Holderness 21, Hebron 19

HEBRON — Seery Donnan scored the first two Holderness touchdowns in a 21-19 victory over Hebron in both team’s season opener in Evergreen League football action Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Shaquille Cezont-Holmes tossed a second-quarter touchdown and ran in a pair in the third and fourth quarters for the Lumberjacks (0-1).

But two failed rushes following the first and third touchdowns was the difference in the game. Riggs Alosa made all three point-after kicks for Holderness (1-0).
