As a recent graduate from Lewiston High School and a former athlete, I would like to express my disappointment in the amount of minimal coverage the Lewiston High School cheering squad has received in the past.

Lewiston High School cheering is a Class A team that has won numerous titles, including four consecutive KVAC championships, three regional championships, two state titles and a New England title — all within the past four years.

We appreciated the coverage we received for the state championships; however, I do feel we did not receive the proper amount of coverage for being one of the first teams in more than 30 years to win a New England championship at Lewiston High School. That was a huge success for any Maine team competing at the Class A level.

We have received an enormous amount of support from the community and proper coverage from the Sun Journal would have been greatly appreciated by those who competed in the championships and by those who supported us throughout that incredible journey.
