WAYNE — Marguerite “Mike” Holbrook, 103, of Wayne, died at her home, where she had lived for 51 years, on Saturday, Sept. 22.

She was born Dec. 20, 1908, in South Gardiner, the daughter of Chester and Ida Blanchard Rand.

“Mike” was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn, Class of 1926. She went on to graduate from the Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, in 1930. She remained a member of the CMGH Alumni Association of Nurses until her death.

She married Wallace Osgood, Sept. 27, 1930, in Livermore Falls and they resided there for a short time before moving to Wilton, where they remained until their move to Wayne in 1961. Mr. Osgood died Nov. 26, 1968. “Mike” later married Lester Holbrook, on Feb. 14, 1970, in Wayne. He died Oct. 20, 1982.

“Mike” was active for 32 years as a Girl Scout leader. While living in Wilton, she was the president of Wilton’s Girl Scout Council, vice president of the Kennebec Girl Scout Council, a member of the Wilton Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a leader of the Senior Youth Pilgrim Fellowship. She was always known as “Aunt Mike” by the many Girl Scouts and youth group members. She was also president of one of the church’s women’s groups for many years. She assisted local doctors on numerous house calls.

After moving to Wayne, “Mike” transferred her church membership to the Wayne Community Church, United Methodist, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society for 49 years, serving as president for 36 of those years. She was chairperson of the worship committee for 14 years and was active on several other committees. “Mike” was a member of the Wayne Friday Club, Cary Memorial Library Association, Wayne Senior Citizens, and was an honorary member of the Androscoggin Yacht Club, where she chaired the summer suppers for many years and was well known for her wonderful baked beans.

She is survived by her daughters, Joan Caouette of Leeds and Jean Dorson of Wayne; seven grandchildren, Barbara Jean Castonguay, Daniel Dorson, Kenneth Osgood, Ronda McLaughlin, Dawn Klinko, Lynn Butner, Michael Hinds and their families; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; her daughters-in-law, Theda Fairbanks and Joanne Osgood; Dick and Marion (Tyler) Hinds. (Marion grew up as a daughter and sister of the family.) She is also survived by a stepson, Charles Holbrook; and a stepdaughter, Martha Doiron.

She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Rand; and her son, Jack Osgood.
