LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne Post 9150 Veterans of Foreign Wars in conjunction with area veterans organizations will hold memorial services at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Gold Star Mothers monument in Lewiston Veterans Memorial Park.
All Gold Star Mothers and all others who have lost loved ones are invited to participate. The service will be held rain or shine.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued a proclamation designating the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mothers day in 1940.
The program will include prayers by Rev. Stephen Crowson of Trinity Episcopal Church and by Rev. Douglas Taylor, proclamation by Lewiston Mayor Robert MacDonald, guest speakers and patriotic songs.
