JAY — A woman injured in a rollover on Lomie Rivers Road on Monday night has been charged with a misdemeanor count of operating without a license, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

Melissa Helms, 26, of Jay, had a driver’s learning permit that expired in 2005 but has never had a license, he said. She came to the Jay Police Station on Tuesday to pick up a summons on the charge, he said.

Helms had been taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with non-life-threatening injuries after the accident, Sgt. Troy Young said Monday.

Helms is scheduled to appear in Farmington District Court on Nov. 29, White said.
