I have listened with shock and horror at the comments being made by Mayor Bob Macdonald of Lewiston. A group of people should not have to leave their culture at the door of anywhere.

I believe that, given his name (Macdonald), the mayor probably came from an immigrant family. Does the mayor think he is better than any other people in this city?

A country’s culture is about who they are, and to suggest that it is possible to leave that at some door is ignorant and heartless.

To make a general statement that the people sit around and drink all day when they could go to work is twice as ignorant. Is the mayor a doctor? He can’t possibly know the situation that has made some people unable to work, because those facts are protected under privacy laws

Making those statements makes the mayor sound like a bigot. The citizens of Lewiston have stood against prejudice before and we will again.

I don’t want other people thinking that all Lewiston citizens are bigots.
