LEWISTON — Rene R. Montminy, 69, of Lincoln Street, Lewiston, died Saturday, Sept. 29, at Central Maine Medical Center following a brief illness with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, Dec. 12, 1942, the son of Leo and Gloria (Cote) Montminy. He attended schools in Lewiston and worked in various local shoe shops. He later went to work for many years at Bradco Chair in Lisbon, until his retirement.

Rene loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, doing puzzles and fishing.

Rene was a great handyman, helping out his family and friends no matter what the project was.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rachel (Fongemie) Montminy, whom he married May 25, 1963; his children, Joan Davis of Sabattus, Brenda Eiring and husband, Douglas, of Lisbon, Scott Montminy and wife, Debra, of Lewiston and Doris Thompson and husband, Shane, of Leeds; his grandchildren, Crystal, Mathew, Heather, Erica, Ryan, Chelsea, Joshua and Tylor; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Logan; his sisters, Helen Ouellette and husband, Richard, of Auburn, Mariette Silva and husband, Charles, of Auburn and Rose Hood and husband, Dave, of Freeport; his brothers, Lionel and wife, Delores, of Lewiston and Gerald and wife, Kim, of Litchfield.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Mikey Davis.
