SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford Hills field hockey squad managed two goals in each half Thursday and easily outgunned Lewiston 4-0 in a KVAC matchup.
Abby Angevine led the Vikings with a pair of goals, while Sidney Jackson and Amanda Hanning also scored. Shannon Fillebrown and Abi Egan combined to make 17 saves, including a great slide tackle by Fillebrown late to secure the shutout. Emma Burgess handled goalkeeping duties for the Blue Devils (8-5) and turned aside nine shots.
Girls’ Soccer
Lisbon 1, Madison 0
MADISON — Kayla Angelico was in the right place at the right time Thursday, collecting a heads-up pass from Olivia Bulgin and firing it into the net to give Lisbon a 1-0 girls’ soccer win over Madison.
After a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds’ (10-0-1) lone scoring opportunity came on a botched clear by Madison (6-6). The ensuing redirect put the ball in Lisbon’s control and allowed Bulgin to push the ball right to Angelico’s position.
Courtney Martel made four saves to notch the shutout, while Savannah Kandiko turned aside eight shots in the cage for Madison.
Spruce Mountain 2, Monmouth 1
MONMOUTH — Lindsey Allen scored on a direct kick with 15 minutes left in regulation as Spruce Mountain handed Monmouth its first loss with a 2-1 win in MVC girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Hayley Doyon gave the Phoenix a 1-0 advantage at the 28:33 mark of the first frame. The Mustangs answered just six minutes into the second half when Melissa Brassard converted a pass from Kylie Kemp.
Emily Keene made a dozen saves for Spruce Mountain, while Adriane Gonzales deflected four shots for Monmouth.
Boys’ soccer
Yarmouth 2, Gray-NG 1
GRAY — Ben Vigue’s goal with just over 25 minutes remaining proved to be the game-winner as Yarmouth held on to edge Gray-New Gloucester, 2-1, in WMC boys’ soccer action Thursday.
David Murphy scored Yarmouth’s other goal. Josh Kane had the Patriots’ lone score. Andrew Fochier made two saves in goal for Yarmouth (8-0-3). Nick Rogers stopped 11 shots for Gray_new Glocuester (5-4-2).
