PORLAND — Portland Ovations will bring Mermaid Theatre’s “Treasured Stories by Eric Carle,” featuring puppetry, visual effects and evocative music, to Merrill Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The Family Series performance at 11 a.m. is recommended for children ages 3 to 8.

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, founded in 1972 , ranks among North America’s most respected theaters for the young and has performed on four continents.

Winning critical acclaim for its earlier adaptations of Carle’s books, Mermaid Theatre’s new work compiles three of his most beloved stories for an  hourlong production.

brings together old favorites from “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and new friends drawn from the pages of “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?” and the poignant story of a young girl’s unusual quest, “Papa, Please get the Moon for Me.”
