RUMFORD —  The Paper Moon Players will hold auditions for its second theatrical production, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.

In this funny, heart-warming Christmas tale by Barbara Robinson, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant must cast the Herdman kids, probably the most inventively awful kids in history.

The comedy is adapted from the best-selling book and only story ever to run twice in McCall’s magazine. It was made into a 1983 television special starring Loretta Switt and Fairuza Balk.

Director Keith A. Grassette is seeking six adult women, ages 30-60; four adult men, ages 30-50; eight boys, ages 6-13; and nine girls, ages 6-13. Performances will be on Dec. 14, 15 and 16 in the Mystic Theater at the 49 Franklin hall at 49 Franklin St. For more information, call 369-0129.
