WILTON — A New Sharon woman died after apparently having a medical emergency Friday, sending her car off Route 2 into a ditch near a former antique shop.

Deborah Walsh, 54, was driving  a 2009 Subaru station wagon east on Route 2 about noon when she went off the road into the ditch.

A volunteer firefighter following the Subaru reported the vehicle slowing down, signaling and pulling to the right prior to the vehicle veering into the ditch.

Police said her death is not the result of the crash but are waiting on the medical examiner to determine the official cause of death.

NorthStar Ambulance responded, as she appeared to be having a medical emergency, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

The vehicle sustained about $1,000 in damage.

Officer Courtney Krause investigated the accident and was assisted by Farmington officer Ted Neil and Deputy Nick Zecher of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
