Instead of focusing on turning the state economy around and creating new jobs, Gov. Paul LePage and his legislative allies spent the past two years launching attack after attack on Maine workers.
They rolled back child care laws that protect Maine’s minors.
They made it more difficult to get by for workers with the most severe on-the-job injuries by arbitrarily cutting them off from Workers Compensation. If a worker is severely disabled for life, he or she loses everything. The worker loses, the insurance company wins. How heartless that is; no compassion for workers.
They passed a bill that punishes laid-off workers, delaying their unemployment insurance. Again, how heartless. Those people have children to feed and support.
Those state senators and representatives stood up for the insurance companies and turned their backs on every Maine worker and the most vulnerable. They are all Republicans and include: Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello, Sen. Garrett Mason, Sen. Kevin Raye, Rep. Michael Beaulieu, Rep. Bruce Bickford, Rep. Dale Crafts and Rep. Eleanor Espling.
They were not interested in working for the people. They don’t care about the workers of Maine, or minors who work; only about the insurance companies and big money.
They cannot hide from their voting record in Augusta; it is a matter of public record.
Robert Shaw, Danville
