Genealogical Society to meet

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will hold their monthly meeting at the Farmington Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. The guest speaker will be David Holmes from Kingfield, speaking on “The Kingfield Rebellion.” Guests are welcome.

Homemakers to set programs

CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will be meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Chesterville Town Office on the Dutch Gap Road.

The Homemakers will be discussing and then voting on program topics for 2013. If there is something you are interested in learning about or if you have a skill you would like to share with others, come and voice your opinion.

The group will also conduct election of officers and collect membership dues for 2013. All meetings are free to the public and everyone is invited. For information call 778-3156.

Gold LEAF kicks off term

Thomas College rep to visit Mt. Blue

FARMINGTON — A representative from Thomas College will visit Mount Blue High School at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

The representative will meet with students to discuss Thomas’ academic and sports programs and its residential life opportunities.

Ted Holland benefit supper

FAYETTE — There will be a benefit supper for Ted Holland, a Fayette firefighter who has non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Fayette Central School. There will also be raffles and a silent auction.

The supper is being put on by the Fayette Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary and members of the community. Anyone who can help make a dish for the supper is asked to call Auxiliary president Elaine Wilcox at 685-3886.

Halloween dinner, auction

RANGELEY — A Halloween dinner and silent auction will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St. Adults, $8; children under 10, $4.

Menu is a Yankee pot roast, mashed potato with gravy, butter cup squash, homemade biscuits, apple cider, spring water, coffee, tea or milk and apple crisp with Cool Whip.

Meal, raffle for Sharon Carter

STRONG — A benefit supper and raffle will be held at the Foster Memorial Building from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. This will help cover transportation and medical equipment expenses not covered by insurance for Sharon Carter, who has fallen ill. For more information call 684-3429.

Public Masonic supper Oct. 20

WILTON — There will be a public Masonic supper at the Harland M. Harnden Masonic Hall, 70 Bryant Road, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, to benefit the building fund.

The menu will be roast pork, mashed potato, gravy, applesauce, squash, rolls, assorted homemade pies and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for those under 12.

In observance of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, this will be the last supper until Jan. 19.

Limited spots for Basket Bingo

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Elks will host a Basket Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 25. Doors open at 11 a.m. Games start at 1 p.m.
