Two Bates College students caused an uproar in Auburn Sunday afternoon when they made a phony report of a robbery at a local restaurant, according to Auburn police. Five Auburn police officers, including one armed with a shotgun, surrounded the Domino’s Pizza on School Street at about 5:15 after two college roommates called the 911 emergency line and reported a robbery in progress, said Auburn Cpl. Jon Perrino. The students’ phone call was traced, and they told police they figured something was wrong at the pizza restaurant because the telephone line was busy for about 30 minutes.
