GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Anne Brown, 76, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Sept. 26, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1936, in Livermore Falls, to Mary Mitchell Brown and Raymond Brown.

Anne enjoyed adventure travel. She traveled to Costa Rica, Alaska, and the Peruvian Amazon, where she bested her husband by hitting a target with a blow gun and catching the biggest pirnha.

She explored many back country trails in the west while backpacking. On one trip, she broke her ankle and had to be airlifted out after spending a long night on the river’s edge, but she showed her mettle by completing the trip several years later.

She loved to play bridge and spoke of her fellow players fondly.

After attending Livermore Falls High School, Anne received a degree as a registered nurse from Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in Portland. Her first employment was at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. While living in New Mexico, she functioned as a tour guide at the state capital in Santa Fe and also worked for the New Mexico State Legislative Counsel.

She is survived by two sisters, Marylou Morrison and Rae Perrault; Myles Brown, her husband of 51 years, who was her loving companion and caregiver; son, Paul Brown and his wife, Cathy; daughters, Tracy Osborne and husband, Kevin and Stephanie Brown and domestic partner, Michael Walsh; four grandchildren, Toby Osborne, Nicole Ayotte, Travis Brown and Ryan Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Eric and Isabel.

She was predeceased by her brothers, David Laurent, Robert Brown, Byron Brown and William Brown; a sister, Patricia Coates; and a son, Eric Brown.

Though her smile we cannot see, her hand we cannot touch, her memory is a keepsake with which we’ll never part.
