PORTLAND — Ralph Marceau, 78, of Livermore Falls, died early Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Maine Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Livermore Falls, a son of Henry and Jeanne (Loyer) Marceau. He was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1952. He married the love of his life, Pauline (Sproul) Marceau in 1954, and together they raised six wonderful children.
Mr. Marceau worked for IP in Jay until 1987, and also worked part-time for Maurice & Sons Plumbing and Heating. He retired to a life of hunting and fishing with many friends and family.
Ralph raised prize gardens that were the envy of neighbors with whom he shared the fruits of his labor. He raised many loyal springer spaniels and enjoyed countless hours of hunting with his dog, Belle, who passed in 2011.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Danforth and took several trips to Alaska to visit Scott Wight and fish for Alaskan salmon.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Marceau; two sons, Bill Marceau and his wife, Karen, of Industry and David Marceau and his wife, Diane, of Searsmont; four daughters, Becky Theriault and husband, Timothy of China, Mary Palmer and husband, Ralph, of Minot, Sandra Gould and husband, Stephen, of Fayette and Jackie Dion and husband, David, of Livermore; 20 grandchildren, Sarah Marceau of Westport, Conn., Eric Marceau of Chicago, Ill., Anna Marceau of Searsmont, Natalie Marceau of Searsmont, Jessica Chappell of Hoboken, N.J., Jason Chappell of Terre Haute, Ind., Crystal Chappell of Boston, Mass., Scott Theriault of Debary, Fla., Amanda Theriault of Unity, Jacob Nason of Auburn, Heather Nason of St. Petersburg, Fla., Nicole Nason of Sugarloaf, Adam Nason of Poland, Stanley Palmer of Oxford, Thomas Palmer of Denver, Colo., Cortney Pierce of South China, Stephen Gould of Farmington, Matthew Dion of Livermore, Andrew Dion of Natong, China, and Julie Dodd of Minot; 11 great-grandchildren, Mason Dodd, Michael and Katie Dion, Sadie, Nolan and Rowan Pierce, Owen, Autumn and Silas Palmer, Jacob Fauls and Sophia Theriault; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Perry and Rita Crocker; and a brother, Paul Marceau.
