LEWISTON — Yolande D. LaBonte, 83, formerly of Auburn, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Gideon and Marie (Bizier) Gagnon and was educated at St. Peter’s School. Yolande married the love of her life, Leo LaBonte, Oct. 3, 1953, and he sadly predeceased her in 1985.

She worked for many years as a custodian for the Auburn School Department. She was a longtime member of St. Louis Church, New Auburn Senior Citizens and the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, cooking and making holiday crafts. And most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children, Lorraine Turcotte and her husband, Larry, of Lewiston, Paul LaBonte and his wife, Darlene, of Auburn and Rachel Duquette and her husband, Jerome, of Auburn; a sister, Bernadette Vallieres of Lewiston; two brothers, Reginald Gagnon of Auburn and Bertrand Gagnon of Lewiston; a brother-in-law, Donald Dube and his wife, Jeannette; a sister-in-law, Joan Gagne; her seven grandchildren, Jason Duquette, Heidi Duquette Martin and her husband, Free, Adam Duquette and his fiancee, Cassandra Manley, Brad Turcotte and his wife, April, Craig Turcotte, Nicole LaBonte and Jonathan LaBonte; six great-grandsons, Damon and Jacoby Turcotte, Landon, Free and Tristan Martin and Aiden Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Raoul, Roland and Maurice Gagnon; five sisters, Sister Elise Gagnon, Lucienne Albert, Rose Gagnon, Jeannette Pelletier and Therese Dube; sisters-in-law, Blanche Gagnon and Carmen Gagnon; and brothers-in-law, Oscar Albert, Charles Vallieres and Lionel Pelletier.

The family would like to extend a warm, heartfelt and sincere thank-you to the entire staff on 4 West at d’Youville. Their love, dedication and support for our mother was greatly appreciated. Her signature wave and I Love You will hopefully be long remembered there, because she truly loved you all.
