I agree with Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald. Five years is long enough to be on welfare for those who have never previously been employed or having lived previously in Maine.

Our taxes are high enough. People who have paid taxes and worked hard have had to tighten their belts. Surely, enough is enough.

Five years is time enough to get established without expecting more and more handouts.
