Dirigo followed the lead of individual runner-up Natalie Bolduc to win the Mountain Valley Conference girls’ cross country title at the University of Maine at Augusta on Friday.

Telstar’s Josef Holt-Andrews won his first conference title in the boys’ race while Hall-Dale cruised to the team title.

Bolduc finished just seven seconds behind winner Sophia Thayer of Boothbay and was Dirigo’s only top-10 finisher. But Sabrina Doud, Jessica Conant and Silvia Lutick all placed within the top 20 to help the Cougars edge Boothbay by four points, 66-70. Monmouth (91) finished third, followed by Lisbon, Winthrop. St. Dom’s and Telstar.

Other top finishers among the locals were Bree Sautter of Lisbon (fifth), Winthrop’s Kaitlin Souza (seventh) and Angel Abbott (eighth), Telstar’s Gabi Stone (ninth) and Ellen Tuttle of St. Dom’s (10th).

Holt-Andrews finished the 5-kilometer course in 16:21, more than a minute ahead of runner-up Marc Hachey of Winthrop (17:29) to win the boys’ individual title. Winthrop’s Ben Allen (third), Telstar’s Bronson Dean (sixth), Lisbon’s Nick Harriman (eighth) and Monmouth’s Ben Bailey (10th) also figured in the top 10.

Hall-Dale placed five runners in the top 25 to finish with 62 points, well ahead of runner-up Boothbay (81). Winthrop, Monmouth and Lisbon rounded out the top five.
