1920 – 2012

NORWAY — Elise “Leecee” F. Quinn, 92, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, at Norway Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Norway on June 24, 1920, daughter of Edwin and Esther (Nickerson) Richardson.

Leecee and Jack made their home in Oxford Village; the village Hilary Clinton described in her “it takes a village” speech. She was a fantastic cook, an accomplished seamstress, and if not the best mother in the world, she was at least in the top 10.

Her working life included many years at Robinson Woolen Mill and many years at Sanborn Motor Express.

She was the consummate sport fan. She cheered for her husband as a player and a coach, her sons, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack and Leecee were also patrons of harness racing while in Maine, frequenting Gorham, Lewiston and Cumberland raceways, and were regulars at the West Palm Beach Kennel Club during their winters in Florida.

However, her focus was on family and friends. She loved the many, many holiday gatherings with brothers, sisters, parents, nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren.

She lived a long and productive life and will always be remembered and loved by her family.

She is survived by her sons, John C. “Jack” Quinn III and wife, Nancy, and Michael B. Quinn and wife, Patricia; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Lee Richardson; and sister, Anita Cummings.

She was predeceased by her husband, John C. “Jack” Quinn Jr.; her parents; brothers, Gordon, Carleton and Dana; and sisters, Kathryn Conant and Leah Townsend.
