Ticket auction aids auxiliary

BUCKFIELD — A ticket auction will be held at 11 a.m. with drawings at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Buckfield High School, 160 Morrill St.

There will be gift certificates and hundreds of items.

Proceeds will benefit the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

St. Catherine’s rummage sale

NORWAY — A rummage sale will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Catherine’s Church parish hall, 32 Paris St.

A good selection of winter clothing and white elephant items will be available.

Proceeds will benefit retreats and programs of the Youth Ministry.

Harvest supper, gospel concert

OXFORD — Grace Fellowship Church will hold a benefit harvest supper and gospel concert at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. The proceeds from the event will go to Pastor Ed Gammon of Albany Congregational Church, who is undergoing cancer treatments at CMMC.

The supper will consist of ham, vegetables, rolls, biscuits, homemade pie and choice of beverage. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Girl Scout info meetings

BROWNFIELD — Girl Scouts of Maine will be hosting girl and parent information meetings at the following locations.

Monday, Oct. 22, 4:30 p.m., at Brownfield Community Church, Route 160, Brownfield.

Wednesday, Oct.  24, 5:30 p.m., at C A Snow Elementary School, Fryeburg.

Thursday, Oct. 25, 6:30 p.m., at Oxford Elementary School, Oxford.

Girls and adults are invited to attend the meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Hebron Historical public hours

HEBRON — Hebron Historical Society recently held a grand opening open house at its new home at 358 Paris Road. The facility will now be open to the public on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

A team of members has organized the society’s archives and welcomes citizens wishing to tour the facility or to research history and genealogy of the Hebron area and its earlier citizens and families. For further information call 966-2177.

The society’s next fundraiser will be a bake and food sale at the Hebron town office on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6. Anyone willing to donate baked goods or prepared food for this event is asked to call 966-2177 or 966-2663.

Thomas College rep to visit

BETHEL — A representative from Thomas College will visit Telstar High School at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The representative will meet with students to discuss Thomas’ academic and sports programs, and its residential life opportunities.

Hebron School harvest supper

HEBRON — Hebron Station School will be having a benefit Harvest Supper on Friday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the school, 884 Station Road. Admission will be $5 per person, ages 4 and under free.

The menu will be spaghetti with sauces, salad, bread and pies. Students, staff and parents are volunteering to hold this annual event. Raffle items will be available.

The supper is a fundraiser for the Hebron Station School Scholarship fund.

A scholarship is awarded at Class Night to a graduating senior from OHCHS who is a resident of Hebron and has attended the elementary school. All proceeds from the supper will go towards the scholarship fund.

Longaberger Bingo benefits pets

NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care Longaberger Bingo will take place Sunday, Oct. 28, at Norway Legion Hall, Main Street. Doors open at 11 a.m., bingo starts at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for 16 games of regular bingo. There will also be coverall games, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle and refreshments. For information or advance tickets call 743-8679.

Hospice volunteers training starts

BRIDGTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has a growing need for hospice volunteers in the Bridgton and Oxford Hills areas who have a special interest in visiting patients in their homes and in nursing homes.

The Hospice Volunteer six-session training begins Oct. 29 at Bridgton Hospital. Classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

There is no cost to participate in any of the trainings offered.
