FARMINGTON — Winners of the first annual Pet Portrait Contest were announced on Oct. 5 at Alana’s Fine Art Photography Studio in the Mount Blue Shopping Center. The pet portrait contest was judged by Lisa Bryant Photography. The winning pet portraits will be printed in the Pet Portrait Calendar to benefit the Franklin County Animal Shelter; 75 percent of the proceeds will be donated to FCAS.
In lieu of charging the traditional session/contest fee, Alana Ranney provided a free portrait session for the donation of 25 to 30 pounds of Kitten Chow. Nearly 500 pounds of cat food were donated to the shelter.
The first-place winner is the dog shown in the September spot; second place is pictured in February and third in June.
Pre-sales of the calendars are on order through Nov. 1, after which there will be only a limited supply.
