AUBURN — The Maine Band Director’s Association will be holding their 22nd annual Edward Little Marching Band Home Show on Saturday, Oct. 20, starting at 6 p.m. at Walton School, 92 Mary Carroll St.
The association’s schedule consists of five regular season shows and the Maine Marching Band final, which will be held Oct. 27 in Old Orchard. All MBDA events are rated against an established standard of performance excellence. Each band will receive the following ratings: General Effect Music, Ensemble Music, Field Music, General Effect Visual, Ensemble Visual, Field Visual, Percussion, Color Guard and Drum Major. Ratings are based on a five-star system, with one star being the lowest rating and five stars being the highest rating. Marching bands compete against the established standards rather than each other.
The evening’s performances vary with a wide range of themes from Disney to a tribute to the music of Michael Jackson. A total of nine high schools will be performing at the show, including Edward Little High School, directed by William Buzza.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Proceeds benefit the ELHS Music Association. Concession service will be available. In the event of rain, the show will be held on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. For more information and a complete schedule of marching band shows for the 2012 season, visit www.mebda.org.
