WILTON — Robert George “Bob” Bowering, 74, of Wilton, died at his home Sunday evening surrounded by his family.
He was born in Cortland, N.Y., a son of George A. and Louise (Dilthey) Bowering. On Oct. 21, 1961, he married Antoinette “Toni” Dvorak at St. Anthony’s Church in Cortland, N.Y.
Mr. Bowering worked at Cooper Brothers in Cortland and later at Brockway Motor Trucks before he and his family moved to Maine in 1978 and opened United Farm Agency Real Estate office.
He later worked for various area law enforcement agencies including the Maine Warden Service, UMF Security, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the state of Maine court system.
After his retirement, his love of antiques enticed him to open Collector’s Delight in Wilton.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Toni of Wilton; a daughter, Suzanne Bowering and her companion, Carl Coose, of Essex, Mass.; two sons, Marc and his wife, Beckie, of Wilton, and George of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Mary) Bush of New York; five grandchildren, Morgan Bowering, Joe Hunter Bowering, Joshua Bowering, Maverick Reel and Trisha Souther; a brother-in-law, Dennis Dvorak and his wife, Ellen, of Tully, N.Y.; four nephews, Glen Bush and his wife, Jean, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., David Bush and his wife, Karen, of Lynchburg, Va., Steve Bush of Cortland, and Joseph Dvorak of Tully, N.Y.; and two nieces, Katherine and Claire Dvorak of Tully.
