1919 – 2012

FARMINGTON — Priscilla Tobin Cain Pillsbury, 93, of Vienna, died Saturday, Oct. 13, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center of Farmington, where she had been a resident for five years.

Priscilla was born April 21, 1919, in West Mills, the daughter of Peter A. and Lizzie Burns Cain. She attended schools in West Mills and Farmington. She married Philip D. Pillsbury of Farmington in 1939 and spent the next 25 years working with him at their farm, Hidden Acres, on Lower Main Street in Farmington. In 1964 they sold the farm and relocated to Vienna.

Together they raised seven children.

Priscilla loved gardening, playing card games and baking. Many in the family carry on the tradition of her Christmas chicken pie. She was a member of the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church and the Irene Luce Philathea Group for many years and after moving to Vienna, she attended the North Vienna United Methodist Church. She loved sharing her flowers with her church family, supplying many arrangements for their Sunday services.

She also had a passion for documenting events in the community by scrapbooking newspaper articles and recording daily temperatures and weather. One of her great adventures was a trip to the British Isles in 1985 with her sister-in-law, Marion Pillsbury.

She is survived by two sons, R. Peter Pillsbury of Farmington and Philip D. Pillsbury Jr. of Vienna; four daughters, Louise Pillsbury of Randolph, Linda Jellison of Wilton, Lucille Wilson of Pittston and Laura Neal of Vienna; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 42 years, who died Sept. 12, 1981;, she was predeceased by a son, R. Paul Pillsbury.
