BRUNSWICK — Barbara Joanne (Baron) Wyman passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Oct. 16.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1925, the daughter of Helen and Earle Baron, of Riverdale, Bronx, N.Y., where she and her sister, Jane, were raised. In her youth, Barbara was a gifted classical soprano, trained at what would become the New York College of Music.

With the attack on Pearl Harbor and declaration of war, Barbara dedicated herself to the war effort, volunteering for the USO and Red Cross. She met Charles L. Wyman while he was a Navy sailor in basic training at the New Jersey shore. They married after a whirlwind romance just before he shipped out to the South Pacific.

Over the years, while Charles built his Navy career as a pilot, squadron and base commander, rising to the rank of captain, Barbara devoted herself to making a home in the numerous locations the Navy transferred the family, and raising their family of six children.

They made their retirement home at Mere Point in Brunswick, where they enjoyed several years of what the coast of Maine had to offer and their growing family. Following Charles’ death in 1989, Barbara discovered a remarkable art talent and enjoyed capturing the beauty of her corner of the world in exquisite paintings.

Barbara is survived by all six of her children, their spouses; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren: Susanne and husband, Terry Sandusky; grandson, Donald Sandusky and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Luke and Lily; granddaughter, Jennie Sandusky and William Perez; great-grandson, Lorenzo; Charles Wyman and wife, Mary; Christine and husband, John Dewar; grandson, Andrew Dewar and wife, Erica; great-grandsons, Samuel and Charles; grandson, Benjamin Dewar and wife, Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Emma and Myles; Bruce Wyman and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Laura and Rachel; Mark Wyman and wife, Glenda; granddaughter, Kate and husband, Juan Andreu; and granddaughter, Sarah; and Paul Wyman.

In addition to her parents and older sister, Jane; Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life, Charles, who never left her heart or her thoughts until she joined him in heaven.
