RUMFORD — Anyone with an intellectual disability or a caregiver of a loved one is invited to gather together to discuss service options, issues, barriers and milestones reached by so many capable individuals and their families. The state continues to cut services for many while maintaining a waiting list for young adults who are unable to receive any supports.

Katrina Ringrose from the Disability Rights Center and many others will be available to gather information, share resources and assist in educating regarding policies and procedures related to a number of service areas. Local service areas include The River Valley, Bethel, Peru, Jay/Livermore, Farmington, Wilton and all the towns in between.

Young adults, 14- 21, need to have all services aligned to avoid falling through the cracks.

Hope Association will host the informational session from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at 85 Lincoln Ave.

There will be light refreshments. Topics will include waiver services and private pay options, case management, supported living, transportation, waiting list information (Section 21 & 29), community support services, supported employment and vocational services, shared living options, transitional students, advocacy and residential services.
