1938 – 2012

LEWISTON — William Stanley Miller, 74, died Oct. 17, at his home, where he and his wife, Frances, lived for 11 years.

He was the son of George S. and Mary Miller. William was born April 24, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pa. He received an honorable discharge after four years in the Air Force in Florida. He married Marietta Miller in 1961 and they lived in Ardmore, Pa., to raise their family. While living in Ardmore, he worked for Philadelphia Electric.

He moved the family to Maine in 1972 and began a log home business, Creative Design and Construction and built nine log homes around the state. He lived on Tersta Farm in Monmouth, where his girls enjoyed horses and participating in 4-H. He later worked at Bath Iron Works as an electrician on ships and as a draftsman. He retired in 2000.

William’s hobbies included billiards and golf, and he spent many hours in his woodworking shop, where he completed projects for friends and family, as well as making turnings for Morin’s Furniture in town. He was a  member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Auburn and volunteered at Montello Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Frances; daughter, Stacia Dugas and partner, Tim Johnson; granddaughters, Ilea and Alexa; and great-granddaughter, Lola; daughter, Terri Miller and husband, Mike Olinsky and grandsons, Walker and Tucker; former wife, Marietta Miller; aunts, Hilda Carpenter and Jane Heweitt; cousins, Doug, Scott, Gary, William, Thomas, Charles, Emily, Virginia Hewitt and Priscilla Burns-Zaeger; stepdaughter, Susan Boeman and husband, Tom, children, Mason and Laurel; stepson, David Barnes and wife, Sheila, children, Michael and Kelly; and stepson, Chris and wife, Gretchen; and daughter, Kathryn.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides of the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all of their support and care.
