LEWISTON — With the Presidential elections just weeks away, The Jesus Party will be holding a special adult-only gathering known as the “Happy Hour.” This forum is intended to be informative and may be viewed as controversial. Ministry director Rev. Douglas Taylor has invited Lewiston’s Mayor Robert Macdonald to address those in attendance as the guest of honor at this event, which will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Jesus Party Headquarters, 291 Bates St.

The ministry will share a 45-minute video presentation, “Obama vs. America,” which features a speech that was given by Joseph Farah at the Tea Party National Convention in February 2010 in Nashville. This speech has been described by some as the most radical, Christian liberty speech ever delivered to a nationally televised audience.

Rev. Douglas and Sonia Taylor are best known for their work in the area of inner-city children’s evangelism. Their political views and controversial stands are shared only at adult-oriented gatherings and are kept separate from their weekly Jesus Party children’s outreach.

The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres and a special arrangement of music presented by Sonia and Kaitlyn Taylor. The event is open to the community; seating is limited so an RSVP is required. The ministry can be reached at 786-5568.
