1926 – 2012
AUBURN — Fernande Boulet, 86, of Lewiston, died Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Hospice House, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Lewiston, on Jan. 2, 1926, she was the daughter of Alfred and Eugenie Pare Bisson. She was raised and attended schools in St. George de Beauce, P.Q., Canada, returning to Lewiston as a young woman and met and married the love of her life, Laurier Boulet, who, sadly, predeceased her nine weeks ago on Aug. 12. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.
A cancer survivor of 65 years, she worked in various shoe shops and retired from GE Auburn in 1984. She never let her disability stop her from working and living life to the fullest. Affectionately known as “Memere Chips” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a longtime volunteer at St.Mary’s Hospital, enjoyed taking care of her flowers, shopping and cooking her specialties, lasagna and apple pies. Most of all she loved entertaining her family and friends every Sunday after Mass in her home.
A member of St. Mary’s Church and, more recently, St. Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by three sons, Robert and companion, Diane Sawyer, of Lisbon, Daniel and wife, Claire, of Lewiston, and Michael and wife, Claire, of Lewiston; a daughter, Patricia and husband, Roger Chretien, of Lewiston; daughter-in-law, Claudia Boulet of Auburn; a half-brother, Leo Gagnon and wife, Pat, of Turner; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Bisson of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Suzanne; a brother, Germain Bisson; and her beloved dog, Susie.
The family thanks the staffs of Maison Marcotte, the Sarah Frye Home, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services and especially d’Youville Pavilion, 3 West, for all the love and care given to our Mom and family.
