AUBURN — The William J. Rogers American Legion Post 153 is running a karaoke contest.
There is no record deal but the prizes with today’s economy are wonderful, said Tibby Dupuis, finance officer. The entry fee is $10 and the individual may enter each week until they win. Entrants must give the title of the song to the DJ and cannot sing the same song twice or at other entries.
One winner weekly will receive $50 and all weekly winners are qualified to compete on week seven for first prize of $250. The second prize will be $150 and third is $100. The contestants will be judged on song choice (difficulty of song), pitch (singing in tune), timing (singing time with music) and vocal ability. At the finals all finalists will perform two songs.
The first competition was held Oct. 20. Upcoming contests will take place on Oct. 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and Dec. 1, with finals on Dec. 8. Seventy-one years ago on Dec. 8, 1941, the day after the attacks on Pearl Harbor, 16 million Americans volunteered and served in the Army, Navy and Marines.
