I support candidate Michael Shostak for Androscoggin County Commissioner, District 2: Auburn, Minot, Poland and Mechanic Falls.

The district needs a person with firsthand knowledge of county business, in particular the sheriff’s department. Shostak is that person (having served as a sheriff’s deputy for 36 years).

Recently, the current commissioners met with members of the public to discuss dispatch fees for fire/EMS, police and public safety answering point calls. Separate proposals were put forth for a vote and the current commissioner for District 2, Beth Bell, opposed both of them. She said she was uncomfortable establishing new fees yet she did not say why and, more importantly, she did not propose an alternative to the options that were on the table.

Voters have the opportunity on Nov. 6 to elect a person who knows the issues, will roll up his sleeves and get the job done.

Mary Roussel, Auburn
