LEWISTON — Beatrice M. Stevens, 80, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, surrounded by her loving family, at Marshwood Nursing Facility.
She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 19,1932, a daughter of the late Harold and Luvie (Porter) Child. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1950. She then went on to graduate from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
Beatrice was a RN for many years, working at St. Mary’s and then for many area nursing homes. She loved being a nurse it was her way of ministering to people. She loved all her patients and made sure they had the best care she could offer.
Beatrice was a longtime member of Auburn Advent Christian Church and was now attending Christ Chapel in Raymond. She enjoyed music, playing Bingo, following the Red Sox, watching the Game Show Channel and most of all spending time with her family. Her warm, compassionate and loving spirit will be missed by all who new her.
She leaves a son, David H. Brooks of Lewiston; three sisters, Mary McGaw of Auburn and twin sisters, Martha Hawkins and husband, David, of Auburn and Margaret Suderley of Windham; six grandchildren, Bobbi Blanchard of Turner, Julie Harding of Florida, Michael Brooks of Florida, Dustin Trider of Colorado, Nicholas Trider of Lewiston and Brent Blackwood of Lewiston; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Kevin and Steven Brooks; a grandson, Brandon Brooks; two brothers, Roger Child and Maynard Child; and two sisters, Bernice Crockett and Lucille Perry.
