LEWISTON— Fernande G. Champagne, died Thursday, Oct. 25, at her home in Lewiston.
She was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Lewiston, the daughter of Rachel Rioux and Edouard Champagne. She attended local schools, after which she moved to Lynn, Mass., where she worked in various occupations for 30 years.
For a time, she served as barber stylist for the Parker House in Boston, where she cut and styled hair for famous personalities.
She moved back to Maine in 1985 and worked 10 years for Catholic Charities of Maine and the St. Francis Halfway House in Auburn until she became disabled. She subsequently served as a driver for Community Concepts and Seniors Plus Transportation. She loved animals, especially her cats.
She is survived by one son, James Joiner of Charleston, S.C.; one grandson, James Joiner Junior; a brotherm, Norm Rioux and his wife, Tina, of Livermore; two sisters, Nadine Bosse of Lewiston and Carol Davis of Northport, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers predeceased her, Raymond Champagne and Ronald Rioux.
