The U.S. Senate is not broken by chance. It is broken by design. That is because it works best that way for the people in power. It is difficult to appreciate that from the inside and there are unspoken rules against discussing it publicly. That is why good people such as George Mitchell and Olympia Snowe are somewhat less than clear when they get out.

Only one of the Senate candidates understands this and is able/willing to talk about it, but her voice is not being heard. Women have more to lose than men when organizations don’t work well. Unfortunately, women are also more likely to enable such inequities.

The women of Maine have an opportunity to make a positive difference. They should support and vote for Cynthia Dill if they want a Senate that works for the many, rather than the few.
